Treatment Wetlands Second Edition

This new book examines the planning, design, construction, and operation of wetlands used for water quality treatment. Co-Authored by JW NAWE's Scott Wallace, Treatment Wetlands is the first comprehensive book to systematically describe all aspects of this new technology. Topics include all major wetland configurations, wastewater sources, and combinations of climatic conditions.
This complete reference contains detailed information on wetland ecology, wetland water quality, selection of appropriate technology, design for consistent performance, construction guidance, and operational control through effective monitoring. Design approaches that can be tailored to specific wetland treatment projects are also included. Rule-of-thumb methods, regression-based empirical design approaches, and rational methods are explained facilitating wetland design based on multi-parameter input conditions.

Design manual on small-scale wetland treatment systems

As the first publication of its kind to enable wetland design with confidence intervals, Scott Wallace P.E., Executive Vice President of Jacques Whitford NAWE, Inc. breaks new ground with this study that incorporates data from over 1,800 small-scale wetland treatment systems.
Entitled "Feasibility, Design Criteria, and O&M Requirements for Small Scale Constructed Wetland Wastewater Treatment Systems" this design manual, funded by the Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF), represents the culmination of a 3-year research project on the use, distribution, and performance of small-scale wetland treatment systems throughout the world. The report contains over 100 original figures, diagrams, and illustrations, and will be published in July 2006 by the Water Environment Research Federation and available initially to its subscribers. It will be published by IWA Publishing Limited in early fall 2006 and available to all interested parties via their website. To purchase the design manual if you are a WERF member contact the Water Environment Research Federation at www.werf.org or click here. Non-WERF subscribers should contact IWA at www.iwapublishing.com or click here.

Wastewater Treatment, Plant Dynamics and Management in Constructed and Natural Wetlands

In chapter 15 of this book which is a compilation of peer-reviewed papers presented at the 6th international wetland conference in Trebon, South Bohemia, Scott Wallace co-authored an article which compares the performance of aerated and non-aerated horizontal flow constructed wetlands. Treatment performance in constructed wetlands is a combined result of the internal mechanisms that store, transform and remove organic matter and associated pollutants, Understanding why performance varies between individual wetland systems requires a detailed knowledge of mechanisms within each wetland system.
